I have been moving my website and didn’t get a chance to post any photos.   I came upon the foal with it’s mama one day going to town

Here is the foal with the mama in the background there is a horse on the other side of the fence that belongs to the neighbor house.  When I was going to town it was fast asleep in the same location.  When I was on the way home they were up and about but the foal has mud all over its face LOL

but then here is the other horse of the neighbors in the background and the foal has the exact same face markings so I am thinking the neighbor’s horse may be the daddy.

Last night I heard something outside and I was thinking it was the bear that has been trying to get into our garbage the last few days but we spotted a horse, it was too dark to see much.  Today it was back though and grazing in the yard it doesn’t belong to any of the neighbors so we called the humane society.  They told us to call the sheriff’s office, so we did and they took the information but animal control never came up, likely because it was already 4:30 or maybe they just won’t come who knows. 

The neighbor suspects that someone set it loose and its been on its own a while now.  It is very skittish.  Apparently a few years back someone released some horses up here that they couldn’t take care of.  He said there are wild mustangs on the Ute reservation and we are at the edge of the rez and now and then they wander through.  This looks like an old horse though like maybe it was abused, there really isn’t any water up here.  We put out some water in case she comes back and the neighbors (whose horses are temporarily staying someplace else while they build a new barn) are going to leave their paddock open to see if it will come in looking for hay.  With no halter on that may be the only way to get a hold of it.

Down at the bottom of Cat Creek Road they have a new foal most of the time it is across the pasture but this day it was right next to the fence.  I wish it had been back 5 or 6 feet so I could have gotten a photo without the fence in it, but even with the fence it is sooo cute!

In April everyone returned after a long winter

OK so Annapurna’s not wildlife, she thinks she is!  She hates winter especially bad ones where she is cooped up in the house because the snow is too deep.  Here she is, happy to be in her backyard!
